Fair Futures’ One Degree provides young people with a personal coach that guides them through a series of exercises to discover their unique God-given Design and particular Purpose. Through coaching, students are empowered to act with courage, boldness and wisdom to steward their gifts for the glory of God. As they do, they are able to access and persist in best-fit high school, post-secondary and workforce opportunities based on their interests, strengths and dreams. The One Degree process is deeply spiritual.

One Degree is a first-of-its-kind online platform that consolidates multiple applications for public benefits and nonprofit services into a single application, so low-income people can save time and effort on their path to social mobility. This platform allows parents, youth, immigrants, veterans, and seniors to search for and save resources like healthcare, child-abuse hotlines, crisis text lines, food stamps, baby clothes, eviction protection, citizenship, job training, and more.

Rey began his career as a teacher and later served as the site director at BUILD, a college-access nonprofit organization that propels low-income students of color to matriculate in college. He is an alumnus of Y Combinator, a New America CA Fellow, an Echoing Green Fellow and a New York City Big Brother/Big Sisters of Greater New York Fellow.

Rey is the co-founder and CEO of One Degree. He believes that the world is better when everyone has a path out of poverty. The company mission is what keeps him and his team motivated to work hard every day.

Founded in 2011, One Degree is an online and app database that allows anyone – including health care providers – to find, share, and track information on community resources. The website and app allow you to search by service, opening hours, location, community served, languages spoken, and more.

Through a free, no-obligation registration process, One Degree will identify your unique needs and provide a customized path to college. In addition to a dedicated C2C Coach, you will receive support from a team of education specialists, financial assistance, and a variety of other services that will enable you to complete your degree.
